Denny Hamlin did something yesterday in NASCAR that hasn’t happened since 1960. It appeared Denny Hamlin had won a record 7th career race at Pocono yesterday afternoon.
Hamlin and 2nd place finisher Kyle Busch were both disqualified when they were found to be in violation of the rules governing the aerodynamics of the race cars bodies. Chase Elliott was the beneficiary moving from first to 3rd after the DQs. Joe Gibbs racing has both Hamlin and Busch in their stable of drivers. They announced today they wouldn’t appeal the decision to disqualify the drivers.
The last time the winner was Emmanuel Zervakis who’s 1960 Chevrolet was disqualified after being found to have an oversized fuel tank at Wilson Speedway in North Carolina
