The I-40 Baseball Classic got underway in both Clinton and Wford this afternoon. Elk City split a pair of games on day one in Wford. The Elks outslugged Merritt 12-3 in Game 1. They played undefeated Tuttle in Game 2. The Big Elks trailed 4-2 in the bottom of the 6th with the bases loaded and no outs. Unfortunately they couldn’t push any runs across and then Tuttle exploded for 8 runs in the top of the 7th for a 12-2 win.
Tuttle’s playing Wford right now to finish day 1 in Wford. Over in Clinton Lookeba Sickels knocked off Leedey 9-6 in extra innings. The Panthers have a 9-3 lead over Kingfisher in the bottom of the 5th. The final game of the day in Clinton features Kingfisher and Clinton.
The schedule tomorrow looks like this: Over in Wford the day starts with Merritt and Wford at 10:30. Merritt and Tuttle will follow at 1. Elk City and Wford finish the day at 3:30. In Clinton tomorrow’s schedule starts with Clinton and Leedey at 10:30. Leedey and Kingfisher are next at 1. Clinton and Lookeba Sickels are the last game of the day at 3:30
