The Merritt Oilerettes are State Tournament Bound after a 3 game run through the Area Tournament following a loss in the Regional Finals. Merritt went to Hennessey and won 3 straight games by a combined 7 points. They edged Amber-Pocasset 47-46, outlasted Watonga 45-40, and then squeaked by Riverside 50-49.
Merritt trailed 49-48 with under 20 seconds left when Ella Porter got loose on the baseline…. They still needed a stop though to make State…. The Oilerettes are headed to the 2A State Tournament for the first time since 2010. They’ll play #2 Pocola at 10:30 Thursday morning in the Big House.
